Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The upcoming months are some of my busiest times as a legislator, as I continue with my responsibilities from Salem, and also reach out to neighbors across the district as I campaign for re-election in May as your State Representative. 

The 75th Legislative Assembly faced unprecedented challenges. In my second term, as Vice-Chair of the Ways and Means Committee and chairing its General Government Subcommittee, I helped balance a budget that started with a $4 billion hole.  We meet that challenge, and made progress to help Oregonians in many other ways. 

We cracked down on tobacco sales gimmicks that target kids, helped returning combat veterans, and targeted investments in technology and energy.  We preserved funding for State Police, expanded health care for kids and uninsured adults, and continued efforts to help consumers. My efforts co-chairing the committee on court facilities will bring needed upgrades – and jobs – to courts throughout the state.  

My priorities going into the last session focused on: 

• Improving services to veterans
• Reining in cost of health care
• Saving affordable housing: Helping people in manufactured home parks
• Designing efficient government services
• Curbing metal theft 

I’m pleased that we made progress on all of these fronts.
